Elephants Are in Crisis

Elephants in the wild are in crisis.

As are elephants in politics.

Both face the traumas associated with diminishing habitats and poaching by outsiders attempting to restructure their core.

For the elephants in the wild, the loss of habitat is a  loss of space and freedom of movement, an inability for females to form core families, succor their young and allow their males to seek out solitary lives, form loose associations with other males & return to the core to impregnate cycling females & assure the continuance of the species.

And always there is threat of the poachers who descend & carve out what they can sell, leaving the broken & dying elephant behind. To be mourned.

Not unlike the loss of a constituency, an audience, a core base of voters for the elephants of the GOP.  No roaming candidates, no loose alliances, no return to the core of conservative ideals to assure the continuance of the GOP.

Not unlike the Tea Party renegades, descending & carving out of the Republican Party what they can use to support & sell their agendas.  Leaving behind a broken core, without a clear leader.

Abandoning the center, for the bits & pieces.

Elephants in the wild, &  elephants vying for control of the GOP, are definitely in crisis.
